Subwoofers

Subwoofer refers to either a woofer, or a full loudspeaker devoted to the reproduction of bass audio frequencies, usually from 150 Hz down to 20 Hz. In the case of a rotary woofer, it is feasible to reproduce frequencies down to 1 Hz. Bass frequencies less about 80Hz become more and more difficult for usual floorstanding or bookshelf loudspeakers to reproduce at high playback levels because they do not have large enough drivers to produce the necessary amount of air dislodgment. The first subwoofer was made during the 1960s by Ken Kreisel, currently president of Miller & Kreisel Sound Corporation in Los Angeles. The subwoofer was firstly used in a recording session was for mixing the Steely Dan album Pretzel Logic. Subwoofers came into better popular realization in 1974 with the movie Earthquake which was released in Sensurround. Car Subwoofers are broadly used by car owners and fans.

Car subwoofers are usually put into box enclosures that they are mounted on and then placed into a suitable place in the car which is typically the boot area. Car subs vary considerably in size with standard ranges being from 8 inches to 60 inches. These days you can pick them up comparatively cheap online from places such as eBay. Car Subwoofers are loudspeakers designed to generate the lowest frequencies, or bass end of the audible sound range. Car Subwoofers range from 4" in diameter all the way up to 36" meant for highly expert technical purposes. For the majority of user purposes however, sizes are pretty much consistent at 4, 5, 6, 6.5, 8, 10, 12, 15, and 18 inches, with the 6.5 to 12 inch sizes being the most used. Subwoofer enclosures are a necessary part of any music lover’s car sound system; because they are inexpensive and easy-to-install accessories that immediately add bass to your system. But choosing a set is trickier than you think – in fact, there are actually hundreds of ‘low-frequency reinforcement’ subwoofer enclosures to choose from.

Subwoofer enclosures shield your subwoofers and really affect sound quality. Boxes are necessary to most subwoofers. In other words, consider a subwoofer's box just as significant as the subwoofer itself. Why? Because most subwoofers need a box to function correctly, sound good, and not hurt themselves. Subwoofers that don't require a box are called "free air" or "infinite baffle" subwoofers. Each type of sub needs its own type of box. Boxes can be built in various shapes, but it is significant that the box volume is planned exactly to achieve highest performance. You can find lots of information and instructional guide for building subwoofer enclosure box from several online sources. There are many companies producing subwoofers of all types and sizes, most renowned companies are kicker, MTX and Audiobahn. You can buy all types of subwoofers from online stores at lower prices.
