DTS

DTS is also known as Digital Theater Systems Inc. It is a multi-channel digital surround sound design used for both commercial/theatrical and user grade applications. It is used for in-movie sound both on film and on DVD, and during the last few years of the format's presence, several Laserdisc releases had DTS soundtracks. DTS, Inc. (NASDAQ: DTSI) is a digital technology company devoted to providing the eventual entertainment experience. DTS decoders are in nearly every main brand of 5.1-channel surround processor, and there are hundreds of millions of DTS-licensed user electronics products available globally. A pioneer in multi-channel audio, DTS technology is in home theatre, car audio, PC and game console products, as well as DVD-Video, HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc and Surround Music software. Modern DVD players generally rely on an external home theater receiver to decode DTS audio. DVD players with incorporated DTS 5.1 decoders exist, but are not particularly common. Nearly all standalone receivers and many incorporated ("home theater in a box") DVD player/receivers made today can decode DTS. For PC playback, many software players support the decoding of DTS. The VideoLAN project has created a decoding module for DTS called libdca (formerly libdts), which is the first open source implementation of DTS.

DTS and Dolby Digital are sometimes judged by their encoded bitrates. DTS proponents claim that the extra bits give higher fidelity and more dynamic range, providing a richer and more lifelike sound. But no conclusion can be drawn from their respective bitrates, as each codec relies on different coding tools and syntax to compress audio. When the DTS and AC-3 audiotracks on the same DVD are compared, some movies exhibit noticeable differences. A DTS track is often louder with fewer hisses, even at the same relative playback volume. There is device available to record the .wav dts songs but not .dts songs. Well, finally Nero Burner can do the job. DTS Audio or video disc can give you the correct sound effect that was recorded in the "recording studio". If anyone interested, a DTS CD is nothing but a Audio Song with a minimum of 5.1 channels information. Normal Audio CD or mp3 has only 2 channel output. A DTS CD can be recorded on a CDR or CDRW. DTS CD can also be stored with 7.2 or higher channel outputs, there were the HDDVD or Blu ray comes. Finally, to play a DTS CD you require a player which has a minimum of Optical or Coaxial output, which inturns connect to an amplifier or home theatre system. The Tracker DTS has become the top-selling avalanche beacon in the world. When an avalanche occurs even the pros make simple mistakes that cost valuable time. The Tracker DTS is the best choice simply because it's the easiest one to use.
