Aspect Ratio

Aspect ratio can be de scribed as the ratio among the height and width of the video pictures that means the aspects of your movie and TV screen. The aspect ratio of TV is available in two different categories. The first one is called standard aspect ratio and second one is called the widescreen ratio. The standard ratio is 4:3 and widescreen ratio is 16:9. When you say your TV aspect ratio is 4: 3, it means its breadth is 4 and height is 3. The standard aspect ratio of any television is 4:3 and the aspect ratio for the widescreen monitors is 16:9, like the HDTV. Therefore, when the graphics are resized to fit the TV screen, the aspect ratios of pictures are conserved and the pictures do not get distorted out of the ratios.

The aspect ratios can also define the images in computer technologies, photography and cinema. There are different aspect ratios available with their prefixed letters for different means to identify them. H specifies the aspect ratio for HDTV, P for panoramic and C indicates for standard aspect ratios. H is only used for the TV, while the P and C refer to the aspect ratios of photography.

The video line chart of the aspect ratios is typically used to observe the right aspect ratio to use, so that the picture will be noticeable clearly. If the aspect ratio is not well-matched to the TV aspect ratios, the whole image will also show a border at all the boundaries. The altering of the shapes with the help of aspect ratio line charts and aspect ratio converters will sustain the uniqueness of the image. The aspect ratio conversion tables are also available in the formats of digital videos. The aspect ratio active video line displays the active video images in the 4:3 standard aspect ratios. The color compound video signal exposes that the extra space is essential on the both right and left sides of each line through the process of scanning. The top and foundation of the active video image areas also requires more space.

If you have ever speculated of the aspect ratios while watching a movie, the movies were initially shot to ensemble a wide screen of movie theaters. While releasing the best versions of home theatre, the studios have to produce the attractive sides of the pictures to fit the screen of you home TV. All the aspect ratios of your home TVs are different from the movies of wide screen.

Before resizing the graphics, you should maintain the aspect ratios that prevent extending of the pictures out of ratios. Most graphics soft-wares have an option of regulating the aspect ratio, while resizing the pictures. Thus, your TV can examine the aspect ratio control settings. So, it is very important to select an aspect ratio before choosing any resolution.
